Over the years, we have found ourselves using less and less cleaning products. Contrary to what the advertising campaigns for some large manufacturers of cleaning products would have you believe, the latest product is not always the best, particularly if it contains toxic chemicals! A few well-chosen products will serve you well and faithfully, and protect the members of your family, including your pets, and all who come to visit you. That is a win-win situation if I ever heard of one!
Generally, we bring all the products and equipment that we deem necessary to complete your job to our standards. If there is something special that you would like us to use, you are welcome to provide it. If it is very toxic, we will probably suggest a natural alternative, based on our experience.
We have invested in a fleet of Miele vacuums, which are the finest vacuums we have ever used, and believe us, we have used quite a few. Most of them are equipped with hepa filters to prevent the dust we have just picked up from being blown right back into the room, and are particularly helpful for allergy sufferers. We are currently working to make sure all of them are adapted to carry the extra hepa filter.
As for the products that we use, our primary cleaning product is manufactured by a company called Bi-O-Kleen, out of Vancouver, Washington. They have a number of great products, and we recommend checking out their entire line. We use their “Cleaner and Degreaser” diluted with water for all surfaces in the kitchen and bath, including floors. We like to use “Bon Ami” for surfaces that are gentle, but still need scoured. For glass, we use a mixture of vinegar and water. Vinegar is also handy diluted with water for hardwood floors. Lemon oil, or a lightly damp cloth takes care of dusting needs. On the occasions where mold is a problem, we still use a bleach based product with the permission of the client, but we imagine that some time soon, the bleach will disappear as well!
